DAON TEMPS
Art textile residency at the Atelier du Haut Anjou in France, Daon, 2019
By questioning the concept of memory and trace related to the house, I collected objects, impressions and stories shown and told by the inhabitants of a rural village in France, Daon. I interpreted the intimate relation with their houses through photographs, drawings, knitting, sewing, laser cutting, painting and finally weaving, like fragments of their past. Those particular, personal and sentimental elements of each person also enrolls a universal language. The 8 m long final artwork is handwoven with a double weft technique and has been hand painted on the warp threads before weaving. The piece merged from a long and meditative process that weaving procures and is the result of an intimate dialogue with every single encounter.
